For many if not all of us in the adult industry, our social media is our lifeline to marketing our brand. Social media has bridged the gap between the on screen performer and the fans in ways that make an experience unforgettable. Recently, twitter started a shadow ban on accounts they feel are not suitable for certain public audiences therefore blocking them from being visible to the general public.
WHAT IS SHADOW BANNING?
Shadow banning, sometimes known as “Stealth Banning” or “Hell Banning,” is commonly used by online community managers to block content posted by spammers. Instead of banning a user directly (which would alert the spammer to their status, prompting them to create a new account), their content is merely hidden from public view.
For site owners, the ideal shadowban is when a user never realizes he’s been shadowbanned.
What seemed to be a target directly at porn, this extensive measure on behalf of Twitter has caused many people in the adult film making business and sex work alike; a lot of issues. It’s a numbers game. The more followers you have the higher the odds are that you will be able to convert those followers into a revenue generating sale. Simple business & marketing.
HOW DO YOU GET UN-SHADOW BANNED?
The way I was able to get my shadow ban removed was by starting the process of starting an ad campaign. Once you start the campaign, contact Twitter Support and tell them that you are unable to purchase ads because your account is shadow banned. It took them less than 24hours to complete my “un-banning.”
I still fully intend to purchase the ads, however yet to complete the process.
HOW DO I CHECK TO SEE IF I AM SHADOW BANNED?
Go to: http://www.shadowban.de/tester/
Enter you twitter ID and click CHECK.
